I’m thrilled to say that the Arts Council of England has awarded me a grant to write a community research-based play that will directly engage local people in Exeter and East Devon, and lead to a play that will be workshopped with local communities in Exeter and London. Set on a Devonshire farm, it will depict, explore & analyse some of the divisions in society the 2016 EU referendum exposed.
Supported by companies including Salisbury Playhouse, Clwyd, Bristol Old Vic, Wolverhampton Grand and York Theatre Royal, the process will be mentored by Daniel Buckroyd in Exeter. Over three drafts, Dan Sherer will work as dramaturg in Colchester. RADA will host and subsidise the London sharing, and the Production Exchange will produce a UK tour of regional theatres when the play’s written.
